Haunted By The Ghost Of My Old Life

Haunted By The Ghost Of My Old Life

                                                                                              - R.Sharvesh

have you ever heard of a boy too afraid

to say anything so he said nothing at all,

living with pent-up emotions raging

in a penthouse of ignorance.

morning he rises alongst the sun

and feels the ground beneath him crack.

indomitable desire feels like wildfire

alit all around, aloud and alone,

burning beneath barren bones.

couple commands couldn’t control

a boy with open battle wounds;

a scar so far it reaches his legs

no seal could conceal his defects

on both poles over which he mounts.

strike him once, strike him twice

but who’s the one watching him count?

pretty a price to pay for his lies,

he scarcely cared for the amount.

they say an elusive soul with a collusive mind

makes a good one go the other way.

hoarse body- so sore and legs even weak,

he ran the course of the mountain’s peak,

to only peek the skies in one fell swoop.

walking circles on a straight way down,

not talking won’t make it not come around.

watch out for both ways,

but not the back for you'd see your face.

he feared the imminent curtain fall

and feared most he’d done nothing at all.

pacing through the grassy course,

his feet gave up and down he fell.

swallowed by a mouth so wide

“go to hell” he cursed his feet, but

he felt like he could breathe beneath.

his body ashened and blood ablue,

the ocean waved it off as if it already knew.
